Hear 2.0: New iPods will be even closer radio substitutes (Performance IS delivery)

A good post by Mark Ramsey: Link: Hear 2.0: New iPods will be even closer radio substitutes.

Picture_6_2 We are heading toward Access replacing Ownership - at least for the Net Generation, the Digital Natives - much quicker than even I have thought - and Radio becomes a delivery mechanism for music. Like iTunes - only for free. Once we have the ability to actually stream-on-demand (like many widgets, including my own Sonific SongSpot widget, already have!) I think a lot of kids will be happy with just having access without getting 'a copy to keep' (aka an MP3 file) - especially if they can just connect via Wifi and on their iPods.  You may think this defies logic but I think this is a HUGE opportunity for the Record Labels: license access (interactive or not) based on a revenue split and on getting guaranteed e-commerce and upsell options, and see this revenue stream explode.
