The iPod Touch: New Music is now discovered at... Starbucks!
I just watched Steve Job's latest 'show' (man... he's so effortless;) and the thing that impressed me most was not just the new iPod but how it (and Apple) turns STARBUCKS locations into Music Discovery Zones: you can take your new iPod Touch into any Starbucks and the build-in wifi and iTunes will let you connect wirelessly, automatically, and for free, and browse the store's actual playlists - pretty cool stuff. Now, I still don't think too many people will cough up a dollar per track, for each and every track, regardless of where and how they discovered it, but regardless I think Jobs knows that flexible music pricing and -within 18 months- Music Flat Rates are coming, beyond a doubt, so once he's got 100 Million iPods in place, and 14.000 Starbucks beaming music to millions of coffee-charged users, he'll be ideally positioned because everyone is hooked on his cool stuff.
But RADIO should talk note: Discovery is what Radio used to be all about... and now it's at Starbucks? At Facebook? At Youtube? You better catch up quickly.
