I totally agree on this trend forward!
Talking about empowering the user to create and to share: This is a beautiful project by the "Konzerthaus Dortmund". It's called "die nie Vollendete" (the never completed). The idea is to have participating users to create a never ending symphony. Beautiful idea, great interface and lots of fun. Check it out:
