Zuckerberg makes a good point that the privacy controls are there but its pretty difficult for newbies to figure out how to use them. Most people I've talked with don't even know you can change how your information is shared, they just use the defaults. These are people from the middle states who aren't on the cutting edge of web 2.0.

Wired did a great story this month on possible scenarios that can happen when you put location aware data into the mix. Just by seeing someone taking pictures with a phone in the park, the author was able to track down the pictures in the park online, locate pictures of the photographers apartment, and also find the photographer's address. Yes, privacy controls can stop this but people must not, as Zuck says, "get comfortable" giving up private information without being reminded of the dangers. Maybe with these services, new education should be implemented in different formats and mediums to help educate the general public (especially the young) to realize the dangers of sharing too much info.

Totally agree with you Scott - Privacy is THE major issue with all this stuff. Whoever can solve this problem (i.e. maintaining privacy yet sharing data and opting in) owns the future!
